Key Features

 Accurate and Stable Results

The specially designed isothermal jacket creates a controlled and uniform thermal environment around the inner vessel. The outer-vessel water temperature fluctuation is maintained below 0.05°C throughout the day and below 0.01°C during a single test, reducing the influence of ambient temperature and airflow on test results.

The independent inner- and outer-vessel water circuits also prevent water filling and draining from disturbing the outer-vessel temperature, ensuring reliable results for the first sample, continuous samples, and samples tested after an interval.

Fast and Highly Automated Testing

The SDAC1200 automatically completes oxygen bomb lifting and lowering, oxygen charging and discharging, pressure monitoring, leak detection, inner-vessel temperature adjustment, water volume control, combustion testing, and result calculation.

The rapid test method takes less than 11 minutes, while the test time for continuous samples can be less than 10 minutes, significantly improving laboratory throughput and reducing manual operation.

Optimized Heat Transfer System

The optimized inner-vessel circulation system, metal inner vessel, stainless-steel oxygen bomb, direct water-volume control, and efficient stirring design accelerate heat transfer during combustion.

Faster heat transfer allows the system to reach the required temperature-rise condition more quickly, shortening the test cycle without compromising measurement stability.

Automatic Pressure and Leak Detection

The instrument automatically monitors the oxygen charging pressure and checks the gas tightness of the oxygen bomb before testing.

This helps identify insufficient oxygen pressure, excessive pressure, or oxygen bomb leakage in advance, reducing the risk of incomplete combustion, invalid tests, and inaccurate results.

Precise Semiconductor Temperature Control

The dedicated thermostatic water tank uses semiconductor technology for both heating and cooling. Unlike conventional compressor-based cooling systems, it does not require manual addition of cooling water.

This design provides more precise water temperature control, lower energy consumption, reduced operating noise, and improved long-term stability.

Reliable and Traceable Data

All reported results are based on actual measurement data. The software does not artificially modify results through data stitching or numerical correction.

Test data are automatically stored and can be searched, exported, analyzed, and printed in multiple report formats, supporting efficient laboratory data management.

Intelligent Diagnostics and Easy Maintenance

The built-in self-diagnostic system monitors the operating status of key components and provides clear abnormal-status notifications.

Its rational mechanical structure and accessible functional modules simplify routine inspection, troubleshooting, and maintenance, helping reduce downtime and operating costs.

FAQs
The SDAC1200 is designed to determine the calorific value of solid and liquid combustible materials, including coal, coke, biomass fuels, petroleum products, cement black raw meal, and other combustible samples. It is suitable for laboratories in the power, coal, petrochemical, cement, environmental, research, and educational sectors.
The instrument is designed to support calorific value testing in accordance with standards including ISO 1928, ASTM D5865, GB/T 213, GB/T 384, GB/T 30727, and JC/T 1005. It also complies with the relevant technical requirements of JJG 672 and GB/T 30991 for oxygen bomb calorimeters.
The SDAC1200 operates as an isoperibol oxygen bomb calorimeter. A weighed sample is combusted in excess oxygen inside a sealed bomb, and the heat released is determined from the measured temperature rise of the calorimetric system after applying the required heat-exchange correction.
A complete test normally takes less than 15 minutes, excluding sample preparation and the initial temperature-balancing period. The actual test duration may vary depending on sample combustion characteristics and laboratory conditions.

The specified measurement range is:

16,000 to 40,000 J/g

Samples below this range may require a combustion aid with a known calorific value to ensure complete combustion and reliable measurement.

The calorimeter provides a temperature resolution of 0.0001°C. This high resolution allows the system to accurately monitor the small temperature changes generated during sample combustion.
When tested using certified Grade 2 benzoic acid, the difference between the average measured value and the certified value should be within −60 to +60 J/g. Heat-capacity precision is designed to meet the applicable standard requirements.

Heat-capacity calibration should normally consist of five repeated benzoic acid tests. The relative standard deviation of the five results should not exceed 0.15%.

If the precision requirement is not met, one additional test may be performed, and five compliant results may then be selected to calculate the calorimeter heat capacity.

The oxygen purity should be at least 99.5%, while oxygen with a purity of 99.99% is recommended. Electrolytically generated oxygen must not be used.

The oxygen cylinder should have a remaining pressure of at least 4 MPa to maintain stable charging conditions.

For routine coal and fuel testing, the regulated oxygen pressure should normally be maintained between 2.8 and 3.0 MPa.

The charging pressure must remain consistent between tests. If the pressure exceeds the permitted range, the bomb should be vented and recharged correctly before testing.

The typical sample mass is approximately:

1.0 ± 0.1 g

The actual allowable mass may depend on the selected sample type, expected calorific value, combustion behavior, and the applicable test method.

Before assembly, 10 mL of distilled water should be added to the bomb cylinder as required by the operating procedure.

The same volume should be used consistently for each test to maintain standardized measurement and correction conditions.

After the sample parameters are entered, the SDAC1200 can automatically perform the main test sequence, including:

  • Lowering the bomb into position
  • Charging the bomb with oxygen
  • Filling the inner vessel
  • Starting water circulation and stirring
  • Igniting the sample
  • Monitoring the temperature rise
  • Calculating and storing the result
  • Venting the bomb
  • Draining the inner vessel
  • Raising the bomb after the test

This automated sequence reduces operator intervention and improves procedural consistency.

Yes. Automatic oxygen bomb gas-tightness detection can be enabled in the software and performed during temperature balancing.

If the measured pressure loss exceeds the configured acceptance limit, the system identifies the bomb as leaking so that the operator can inspect the sealing components before testing.

Yes. Oxygen pressure monitoring can be enabled in the control software. The charging pressure is displayed during oxygen filling, helping the operator identify insufficient or excessive pressure before combustion.

The system can also be configured to check whether the oxygen bomb is installed and whether the ignition wire circuit is properly connected.

Yes. The software can calculate the bomb calorific value, gross calorific value, dry-basis gross calorific value, and net calorific value when the required sample parameters are entered.

Parameters such as hydrogen, moisture, sulfur, ignition heat, and added heat are used where required by the selected calculation method.

For samples that are difficult to ignite or have a calorific value below approximately 16,000 J/g, a combustion aid may be added.

A material with a known calorific value, such as previously characterized lens-cleaning paper, may be used to wrap the sample. The mass and calorific value of the aid are entered into the software so that its heat contribution can be deducted automatically.

Yes. The software includes a biomass sample type, and the instrument supports calorific value determination of solid biomass fuels.

According to the instrument settings described in the manual, the oxygen charging pressure for biomass testing is generally adjusted to approximately 1.4–1.6 MPa. The charging pressure and combustion conditions should be set consistently with the selected biomass test method.

For reliable measurements, the calorimeter should be installed in a stable indoor environment with:

  • Ambient temperature of 15–30°C
  • Relative humidity of 10–85%
  • Maximum installation altitude of 2,000 m
  • No strong airflow or direct air-conditioning draft
  • No direct sunlight
  • No significant vibration or strong magnetic interference

The power supply should be 198–242 V, 49–51 Hz, with reliable protective grounding.

The oxygen bomb should be cleaned and dried after every test. Its gas tightness should be checked regularly, and a safety or hydrostatic pressure test should be carried out at least once per year, after approximately 3,000 uses, or following repair or component replacement.

The calorimeter water system and filters should be kept clean, and the water in the thermostatic tank should be replaced at least once every six months. Test water should be distilled or deionized water to reduce contamination and blockage risks.
